Keep a separate manual save before advancing A Deal with the Devil or another ending route. Chapter closure, objective expiry, and the rescue deadline are different risks.
Where should you keep an ending save?
PowerPyx recommends a save after defeating Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe, before advancing the final quest. Brencis's parley leads to A Deal with the Devil. Keep that save in a separate slot; finish the ally quests required for your desired ending before another save.
Four different ways to lose an option
| Boundary | What can close |
|---|---|
| End of the prologue | Prologue quests |
| Expiry of an active objective | That timed stage |
| Ending commitment | Other routes from the current save |
| Family rescue deadline | Rescue outcome and its achievement |
Is every boss duel the final commitment?
No. Defeating the three vassals is a useful preparation checkpoint. Early castle entry and other final routes can trigger their own warning, so read the actual prompt rather than relying only on a quest name.
Before you accept a final prompt
- Check the day and remaining rescue time.
- Finish any active timed objectives.
- Prepare Lacra or Crake's chain if that ally is part of your target ending.
- Confirm the character choices and romance outcomes you want.
- Leave the pre-ending save untouched so you can reload it.
Use the ending guides for individual requirements. The route assistant supports only its stated goals and cannot read your save.
